The following are comments by Andreas Reuter of Germany on how to judge the wing markings on Saxon Shields:

The Saxon Shields should have minimum 8 and maximum 10 white flights. It´s doesn´t matter if the combination is 8 to 8 or 8 to 10 or 9 to 10 white flights.
In addition you have to pay attention to the thumb feathers. The Saxon Shields have minimum 7 colored thumb feathers.
Another question would be what´s the color of the feather. The color of the feather is the color of the quill. If the quill is colored and the rest of the feather is white, then I evaluate this feather as a colored feather.

If the birds have less than 8 or more than 10 white flights I rate this one by maximum 91 points. It´s the same rating if the Shield has more than one white thumb feathers or it misses thumb feathers.
